Claims of 'İmamoğlu disarray' within the CHP! The operation was coming in plain sight, but...
Journalist Aytunç Erkin stated that the detention of Ekrem İmamoğlu was an operation that had been in preparation for a long time. Erkin emphasized that the CHP failed to display a clear stance throughout the process and that there is talk of serious disarray within the party.
Journalist and author Aytunç Erkin, in his article detailing the process leading to the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, stated that these events were not a surprise and that the operation had been signaling its arrival for a long time.
In his column in the newspaper Nefes titled "That Letter," Erkin reported that the main opposition party could not take a clear stance during this process and that serious disarray was observed within the CHP.
In his article, Erkin wrote, "The CHP leadership, which has practically set up headquarters in Saraçhane, calls the public to the front of the municipal building every evening at 8:30 PM. In this way, they are trying to keep the heat of the operation alive. However, it is being discussed that there is a lack of a clear strategy and disarray within the party."
NEED FOR A FATHER/ELDER FIGURE
Aytunç Erkin also stated that the CHP needs a strong figure to pull together this disorganized image. In his article, he assessed, "It is clear that there is a need for a father or elder figure here to pull the CHP together. With the detention process of İmamoğlu, the party needs to determine a new roadmap and act quickly."
Erkin used the following expressions in his article:
"Everyone knew, no one was talking. 'İmamoğlu is the target' and the target after him is the CHP!
...
Despite all this, despite the operations that said 'I am coming,' no clear reaction had come from the main opposition.
Then it continued.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office used the term 'criminal organization leader' for Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was detained as part of two separate investigations launched on charges of 'corruption' and 'terrorism.' In the statement made by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was said, 'Detention warrants have been issued for a total of 106 people, primarily the criminal organization leader suspect Ekrem İmamoğlu, Murat Ongun, Tuncay Yılmaz, Fatih Keleş, Ertan Yıldız, and 95 suspects connected to these individuals.'
...
Perhaps İmamoğlu realized it afterward and explained the operation against him on March 15.
So what will the CHP do?
For example; will it keep a vigil after the trustee appointed to Esenyurt and then be forgotten? Will it say to the government, 'I am here too, I exist'? Or will it repeat the sentence 'There is an administrative court' as CHP leader Özgür Özel said after İmamoğlu's diploma was canceled?
Yes... The CHP leadership, which has set up headquarters in Saraçhane, calls the public to the front of the municipality every evening at 8:30 PM and tries to keep the operation alive. However, it is being discussed that there is disarray. It is clear that there is a need for a 'father/elder' figure to pull the CHP together here, and it is necessary to take action for a new roadmap along with the İmamoğlu agenda."
