Clash over 'ululation' at Istanbul Courthouse: Relatives of defendant sentenced to prison attack those who cheered

At the Anadolu Courthouse, relatives of a defendant who was being tried for 'Intentional Killing' and sentenced to 25 years in prison attacked the complainant's side, who were ululating in front of the courtroom. Those moments were captured on a mobile phone camera.

In Ataşehir, Istanbul, 31-year-old Helin Sülüktekin had an argument with her husband, Serkan Sülüktekin (33). Helin Sülüktekin called her relatives, Mehmet and Şerife Kalkan.

While Serkan Sülüktekin and Mehmet Kalkan were arguing, as his son Ç. Kalkan pulled his father back, the knife in Serkan Sülüktekin's hand stabbed Gernas Kalkan (28). Gernas Kalkan, who collapsed to the ground covered in blood, could not be saved despite all medical interventions at the hospital where he was taken.

ULULATION AFTER THE VERDICT

In the case heard at the Anadolu Courthouse in Istanbul, Serkan Sülüktekin, who was tried for 'Intentional Killing', was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Relatives of the murdered man ululated following the verdict. The defendant's relatives then attacked those who were ululating. Those moments were captured second by second on a mobile phone camera.
