The Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality announced that it has established a team to provide cleaning support to all schools across the province.

However, following this announcement, it emerged that the Dursunbey District Directorate of National Education took a controversial step by instructing schools not to "make requests from the Metropolitan Municipality."

'OUR LESSON IS EDUCATION, OUR SUPPORT IS CLEANING' CAMPAIGN LAUNCHED

Balıkesir Metropolitan Mayor Ahmet Akın launched a cleaning mobilization across the province under the title "Our Lesson is Education, Our Support is Cleaning." The "School Cleaning Team" established within the municipality will provide cleaning support to schools that request it. Additionally, cleaning supplies will be provided to schools in need.

SURPRISING INSTRUCTION FROM THE DISTRICT DIRECTORATE OF NATIONAL EDUCATION

Following Mayor Akın's announcement, the Dursunbey District Directorate of National Education issued a scandalous instruction to school principals.

In a message sent via a WhatsApp group, it was revealed that they were attempting to block the municipality's free service with the phrase, "Never make requests from the Metropolitan Municipality." The message also requested that teachers, parents, and school parent-teacher associations be warned about this matter.

'OUR GOOD INTENTIONS MAY BE ABUSED'

In the message sent to school principals by the Dursunbey District Directorate of National Education, it was alleged that the following instruction was given, accompanied by an image of the municipality's cleaning campaign:

“Dear principals, neither you as administrators nor school parent-teacher associations/parents/teachers should ever make such a request. This is a matter where our good intentions could be abused. Please be careful. Have a good evening.”

BALIKESİR FOLLOWS ANKARA

Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş stated that out of 271 schools that requested cleaning services, 113 withdrew their requests, and that school principals were sent messages saying, 'Do not ask for anything from the municipality.'

Reacting to the situation, Yavaş said, “We are not providing toxic food or anything like that. We are providing cleaning supplies. We are also offering to clean the schools. We find it truly strange that such an event has been brought to the national agenda to this extent. We are ready to cooperate with all institutions. As long as the children there receive their education in a good environment.”
