Collapse during demolition in Malatya: Operator trapped under rubble rescued
A collapse occurred during the demolition of a heavily damaged building in the Yeşilyurt district of Malatya. The excavator operator was trapped under the rubble, and numerous search and rescue teams were dispatched to the scene. The operator was rescued with the help of the teams.
Work began for the demolition of a 4-story building in the Seyran neighborhood of the central Yeşilyurt district, which had been heavily damaged in the earthquakes on February 6, 2023. During the demolition, the building collapsed onto the construction machinery for reasons yet unknown.
Upon notification, fire, police, ambulance, and search-and-rescue teams were dispatched to the area.

The teams launched an operation to rescue the excavator operator, Hamza Çetin, who was trapped under the rubble.

Rescued with injuries after approximately 1 hour of work, Çetin was taken to the hospital by medical teams.

As he was being carried to the ambulance, Çetin responded to journalists' question of "How are you?" by saying, "I am fine, thank God".
