Collapsing building in Fatih poses a danger: 5-story structure to be demolished

In Fatih, a 5-story building that experienced a partial collapse has been sealed, and a decision has been made to demolish it on the grounds that it poses a danger. It was learned that the building, which was determined to have been constructed before 1999, will be demolished shortly following inspections by Fatih Municipality teams.

The incident occurred yesterday on Alişan Street in the Nişanca neighborhood. The bathroom section on the 4th floor of the building, which had been added later with iron profiles and sheet metal to the ventilation shaft, collapsed. 

1 PERSON INJURED 

A 15-year-old girl who was in the bathroom during the collapse fell to the floor below and was injured. It was stated that the injured child is not in life-threatening condition and her treatment at the hospital is ongoing.

Following the collapse, the apartment residents were evacuated. Municipal teams conducted inspections of the building, sealed it, and placed barriers around the perimeter. After the evacuated residents entered the building to retrieve their belongings in a controlled manner, they were temporarily placed in a hotel in the district.

Authorities announced that the building will be demolished shortly and that the demolition process will be carried out quickly.
