Communications Director Altun provides update on wildfires across the country
Communications Director Fahrettin Altun announced that 72 wildfires have broken out across Turkey, 45 of which have been brought under control, while efforts to contain the remaining 27 are ongoing.
Communications Director Altun stated in a post on his X social media account, "72 wildfires have broken out across the country, 45 of which have been brought under control. Efforts to contain the remaining 27 are ongoing.
Our state stands with our citizens affected by the fires with all its resources. From the very first moment of the fires, all our relevant institutions and organizations have been working in a coordinated manner and with great dedication," he said.
Altun added, "Intervention efforts for the ongoing fires in İzmir are continuing by air and land with a total of 596 vehicles and 2,965 personnel. Our state's relevant institutions are sharing the firefighting process with the public in a transparent manner. However, during this process, false information and news that could exploit the public's sensitivity regarding the fires may circulate. It is of great importance that our citizens do not give credence to intentional and misleading posts and that they rely only on statements and information provided by official institutions," he said.
