Communications Director Fahrettin Altun emphasizes disinformation
Presidency Communications Director Fahrettin Altun stated that they are conducting effective work to neutralize disinformation campaigns aimed at influencing citizens' decisions before the election process, casting a shadow over election security, and misleading the public to cause votes to be invalidated.
Presidency Communications Director Fahrettin Altun shared a post on his social media account regarding the March 31 Local Administration General Elections.
Reminding that the nation is heading to the polls for local elections, Altun remarked, "In our country, where participation rates have remained quite high throughout history, elections have taken place in an atmosphere akin to a festival of democracy. Each of these elections, which our people have shown great interest in, has held separate importance and has opened doors to new possibilities and opportunities for our country and our nation."
Pointing out that the Local Administration General Elections are being followed with intense interest by the international public as well as the domestic public, Altun stated, "As the Presidency Communications Directorate, we are making intense efforts to ensure that the elections take place in a healthy communication and information environment. Because experiences worldwide in recent years have shown that elections are among the processes where disinformation activities are most intense."
Altun noted the following in his post:
"As the Presidency Communications Directorate, we are conducting effective work to neutralize disinformation campaigns carried out from within and outside, which aim to influence our citizens' decisions before the election process, cast a shadow over election security, and even mislead the public to cause votes to be invalidated. Our fight against disinformation will continue with determination, just as it has until today. We have made all necessary preparations for the March 31 elections as well. All necessary measures have been taken to ensure that no shadow is cast over the functioning and reliability of our elections, which are like a feast of democracy with their participation rates. Let us not forget that the manifestation of the national will in elections is only possible through healthy information activities. Every attempt to disrupt this healthy climate will be detected immediately, and the truth will be presented to the attention of our nation in all its aspects.
We aim to contribute to the ability of press centers and national and international members of the press to follow developments regarding the election in a healthy and rapid manner. We wish for the election results to be auspicious for our country and our nation."
