Competition Authority imposes fines on the construction chemicals sector

The Competition Authority has imposed a total fine of 42.7 million liras on two companies operating in the field of construction chemicals.

Competition Authority imposes fines on the construction chemicals sector

The investigation conducted into companies that violated competition rules in the construction chemicals sector has been completed. In this context, a total administrative fine of 42.7 million liras was imposed on Mapei Yapı Kimyasalları İnş. San. ve Tic. AŞ and Chyrso-Kat Katkı Malzemeleri San. ve Tic. AŞ.

According to the statement by the Competition Authority, these companies were penalized for practices such as determining the prices of resellers and imposing customer and regional restrictions. It was also determined that Chyrso, in particular, imposed non-compete obligations on its dealers.

On the other hand, no competition violations were found regarding the other companies examined within the scope of the investigation (Akkim Kimya, BASF Türk Kimya, Egecrete Yapı Kimyasalları, Ekan Kimya, Fosroc Yapı Kimyasalları, İksa Beton ve Yapı Kimyasalları, Kalekim Lyksor Kimya, Kordsa Teknik Tekstil, Polisan Yapıkim, Polipropilen Elyaf, Yapıchem Kimya, the Association of Chemical Manufacturers, and the Federation of Construction Products Manufacturers).

The statement also recalled that a total fine of 56 million liras was imposed on two enterprises that chose the settlement path in the previous stages of the investigation.
