Complaint filed with the HSK against Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek! 'He is violating the Constitution'
Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek has been reported to the Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK) due to investigations targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
Within the scope of investigations targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, 237 people were detained, and many high-level officials, including Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, were arrested. This situation led to protests across the country.
Lawyer İsmail Sami Çakmak filed a complaint with the Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK) against Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek, alleging that he is using his office for political purposes. In his petition, Çakmak argued that Gürlek abused his authority and violated the Constitution. He further stated that Gürlek has turned his office into a subject of ridicule.
According to the report by Cumhuriyet, Çakmak claimed that Gürlek has disrupted public order by making unlawful decisions and has acted as a political figure.
Çakmak argued that Gürlek's orders were illegal and that unlawful detentions were carried out based on these orders. He also stated that the irrational questions asked during the investigation damaged the seriousness of the Chief Public Prosecutor's office. Çakmak emphasized that the HSK must intervene in this situation and directed criticisms toward the HSK.
