Concern over 'right to hope' in AKP: The plan has emerged!

As the commission established in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) continues its work within the scope of the new opening process—architected by MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli and dubbed 'Terror-Free Turkey' by the government—discussions regarding execution arrangements and the 'right to hope' have also come to the agenda.

According to a report by Sözcü, the AKP does not want to take sole responsibility for the regulations in question. It remains unclear which parties will have their signatures on the regulations that were brought up in the 'Terror-Free Turkey Commission' operating in the TBMM and interpreted by the public as 'amnesty for Öcalan and PKK members.' The government is attempting to include the opposition in the process to avoid facing accusations of 'releasing the murderer of 50 thousand people.'

COMMISSION TO BE POINTED AS THE ADDRESS

While the AKP proposes to carry out the process through a 'simplified execution package,' the MHP argues that the execution law should be rewritten. Gradual amnesty options are also on the table. According to government lobbies, instead of submitting a direct proposal to Parliament this time, the focus is on determining the framework within the 'opening commission.'

AMNESTY AND REDUCTION OPTIONS ON THE TABLE

In the 13th meeting of the TBMM National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission, the future of organization members was discussed in connection with the disarmament process. Among the topics discussed, formulas for gradual amnesty and sentence reduction drew attention. However, since the government is struggling to find public support for these topics, it aims to share the responsibility by obtaining the signatures of all parties.

On the other hand, it is stated that the 11th Judicial Package, which is planned to be submitted to Parliament next week, will be independent of the execution arrangement and that there will be no articles related to amnesty within the package.
