Condemnation of the government from Müsavat Dervişoğlu: The process against CHP has raised social tension

İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu, regarding the events at the CHP Istanbul Provincial Headquarters, said, "I strongly condemn the assault on democracy, regardless of its source.

Therefore, the problem we are facing today is no longer just an internal matter for the CHP," Dervişoğlu said. "The right to engage in politics is a constitutional right.

The usurpation of this right is naturally a constitutional crime. The steps taken by the government recently, especially the processes it has carried out regarding the Republican People's Party (CHP), have raised social tension in our country," he stated.

Touching upon the events at the CHP Istanbul Provincial Headquarters, Dervişoğlu noted the following:

“We are observing the events in Istanbul, which are likely to have repercussions in Ankara, and which we are witnessing will leave major negative marks on both our legal system and our democracy in the long term regarding the Republican People's Party.

The right to engage in politics is a constitutional right. The usurpation of this right is naturally a constitutional crime. The steps taken by the government recently, especially the processes it has carried out regarding the Republican People's Party, have raised social tension in our country. Such tension will not benefit the government or our politics, and the extent of the damage it may cause could reach unpredictable levels.

Turkey has very major problems. I primarily judge the transformation of this problem into a major problem. I strongly condemn the assault on democracy, regardless of its source. Therefore, the problem we are facing today is no longer just an internal matter for the CHP. Therefore, it also closely concerns their internal dynamics.

I always say this; the CHP is a political party that has exceeded 100 years. Since political parties are indispensable elements of democracy and there are political parties that have not been dispensed with for a century; then as a society, we must protect them. Purified from all kinds of political fanaticism, thoughts, and opinions; as always, we will continue to defend rights, law, justice, and democracy to the end. The expressions and statements of individuals will never and under no circumstances turn us away from this path.”
