Another person has been arrested as part of the investigation into the disappearance of university student Gülistan Doku, who has not been heard from in Tunceli since January 5, 2020.

Şükrü Eroğlu, the close bodyguard of the then-Tunceli Governor Tuncay Sonel, who was detained on April 14, was arrested by the duty Magistrate's Court after being referred with a request for arrest following his statement at the prosecutor's office.

With this development, the number of people arrested as part of the investigation has risen to 9.

On the other hand, it was reported that the proceedings for the then-governor Tuncay Sonel, his son Mustafa Türkay Sonel, and the then-Chief Physician of Tunceli State Hospital, Çağdaş Özdemir, who were detained yesterday, are ongoing.

9 PEOPLE ARRESTED

Previously, as part of the investigation, former police officer Gökhan Ertok, who was alleged to have deleted data from Gülistan Doku's SIM card, former Tunceli Provincial Special Administration employee Erdoğan Elaldı, Zeinal Abakarov's mother Cemile Yücer, Celal Altaş, Nurşen Arıkan, and Ferhat Hanedan Güven had been arrested.

A decision was made to release Savaş G. and Süleyman Ö., who were responsible for the security cameras at Munzur University, under judicial control with a travel ban.

This morning, it was learned that Gülistan Doku's former boyfriend Zeinal Abakarov and his stepfather Engin Yücer were also arrested.

STATEMENT OF THE ARRESTED POLICE OFFICER REVEALED

Former police officer Gökhan Ertok, who was arrested as part of the investigation, stated in his prosecutor's statement that the SIM card belonging to Gülistan Doku was given to him by Şükrü Eroğlu, the close bodyguard police officer of the then-Tunceli Governor Tuncay Sonel.

Ertok also stated that Tuncay Sonel gave instructions to delete important data from Gülistan Doku's WhatsApp correspondence and social media messages.

In the examination of suspect Gökhan Ertok's HTS records and bank transactions, it was determined that there was communication traffic between the then-Tunceli Governor Tuncay Sonel and the detained former bodyguard Şükrü Eroğlu, and that multiple money transfers were carried out.

In the prosecutor's investigation, it was determined that the suspect accessed Gülistan Doku's social media account by obtaining a one-time password using the "forgot my password" method. According to the examination by experts from the National Criminal Department, it was determined that after Ertok entered the account, he deleted two people from the friend list and used the account for approximately three hours.

Ertok admitted in his initial statement that he had accessed the social media account.

'CONFESSION VIDEO' IN THE FILE

Footage of a conversation between the lawyer for the Doku family and S.A., the brother of suspect Umut Altaş—who has an outstanding arrest warrant, is reported to be in the USA, and for whom a red notice has been requested—has also been added to the file.

In the footage that entered the investigation file, S.A. stated, “I am ready to help as much as I know. From Umut's interrogation, I heard Türkay say that the girl got pregnant and I shot her in the head. This phrase 'I shot her in the head' was mentioned a few times.”
