Constitutional Court deputy president has been determined

Due to the fact that the term of AYM President Zühtü Arslan will expire on April 20, Kadir Özkaya, who was serving as deputy president, was elected as the new president of the High Court in the election held on March 21.

According to the information obtained, an election was held in the AYM General Assembly for the deputy presidency position vacated by Özkaya.

Basri Bağcı received 9 votes, securing an absolute majority, and became the Deputy President of the Constitutional Court.

WHO IS BASRİ BAĞCI?

Basri Bağcı was born in 1967 in the Elmadağ district of Ankara and graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Law in 1988.

Starting his career in 1989 as an Ankara judicial judge candidate, Bağcı served as a public prosecutor in Sivas Gürün, Siirt Pervari, and Konya Hüyük, respectively, and worked as a justice inspector and chief justice inspector at the Ministry of Justice Inspection Board, before being elected as a member of the Court of Cassation in 2017.

Bağcı was elected as a member of the Constitutional Court on April 2, 2020, and began his duties on April 6, 2020.
