While the lack of an investigation following former AKP deputy Ahmet Hamdi Çamlı's characterization of the 1923 Republic revolution as a "bloody coup" continues to be debated by the public, anti-Atatürk remarks by Milat Newspaper Ankara Representative Özlem Doğan have now taken center stage.

Doğan openly targeted the founder of the Republic of Turkey, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, by sharing a photo of an Atatürk bust, which appears to have been taken on the Boğaziçi University campus, on her social media account with the caption, "Rise, oh sun, and melt the man of stone."

ANOTHER SCANDALOUS POST FOLLOWING THE BACKLASH

Following intense public reaction, Doğan made a new post regarding the natural phenomenon in Ardahan that appears every year and is likened by the public to the silhouette of Atatürk.

Using derogatory language toward the public in her post, Doğan stated:

“Celebrations were held again this year in Ardahan because of the so-called Atatürk silhouette. Then they get angry when we mock these primitive simpletons. It is very sad and pathetic that those who think this shadow belongs to Mustafa Kemal, who died 87 years ago, have the right to vote.”
