Controversial remarks on Öcalan in commission from a figure claiming to be close to MHP! 'A true leadership...'

The National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission, formed under the roof of the TBMM with the participation of 51 deputies, plans to continue its work until January 1, 2026. The commission will meet for the 11th time on September 24. According to the report by Veli Toprak from Sözcü, many controversial topics have been put on the table to date, including amnesty for the terrorist leader and PKK members, education in the mother tongue, preparations for a new constitution, and regulations regarding the concept of "Turk."

NEW PROPOSALS ON THE COMMISSION'S AGENDA

Representatives of associations close to Hezbollah who participated in the commission caused tension in the meetings and blamed the Turkish military. The agenda also includes the possibility of a visit to Imralı and a meeting with the terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan. The commission is expected to prepare legislative proposals on issues such as "amnesty, execution, house arrest, and the right to hope."

The commission, where all parties except the IYI Party are represented, held its first meeting on August 5. Among those who shared information about the process were ministers and the head of the MIT (National Intelligence Organization). To date, 10 former TBMM Speakers, bar associations, TÜSİAD, TOBB, MÜSİAD, the Saturday Mothers, the Diyarbakır and Peace Mothers, associations for martyrs and veterans, academics, business people from the East and Southeast, and various NGOs have presented their views.

Prof. Havva Kök Arslan: "If we divide, we perish; if we share, we thrive. Fatih, Atatürk, Saladin. As someone from the MHP, I say that what Öcalan has done is a true leadership."

Prof. Sevtap Yokuş Veznedaroğlu: "The possibility of releasing political prisoners and convicts can be started with the execution law. The European Charter of Local Self-Government can be implemented in its true sense."
