Cosmetic procedure becomes a nightmare: Defrauded of 220,000 TL

In the Alanya district, 40-year-old Ada Mert underwent a thread lift procedure on her face and filler injections in her mouth and chin area at a clinic in Antalya in August 2024, following a doctor's recommendation.

According to her claims, Mert noticed that the results of the procedure began to deteriorate just 3 days later and reported the process she was going through to the clinic authorities. Mert subsequently filed a complaint against the doctor. 

"I NEVER GOT TO ENJOY THE FACE THEY PROMISED"

Describing the process she went through since the day of the procedure and claiming that permanent marks were left on various parts of her face, Ada Mert said:

"In the 8th month, I asked for a recommended doctor to get a thread lift at a beauty center. I traveled from another city to Antalya. I had a thread lift, fillers in the corners of my lips and my chin. I had a procedure to reduce the size of my nose. The thread lifts and procedures I had cost me 220,000 TL. Three days later, the lip filler they injected shifted.

A week later, lumps and hard spots began to form on my face. I wrote to this clinic. I said, 'Your fillers have shifted.' When I told them I had hardening and stinging sensations on my face, the only thing they said to me was, 'The fillers we used have shifted, come back and let's do another thread lift.'

I told them I could not trust them again and would not lie under their hands. Four months later, the thread lifts fell out. Even though I told them to resolve my grievance, they said, 'File a lawsuit, we do not accept it, it is not our fault,' and I handed the file over to my lawyer.

I took out a loan of 220,000 TL to pay for this procedure. I have been victimized. My grievance is not being addressed. I don't want anyone else to be a victim. They take large amounts of money for this and do not deliver the faces they promise. They told me the thread lifts would last at least 2 and at most 3 years. But they fell out after 4 months. I never got to enjoy the face or the time they promised. Don't let anyone be deceived. I have filed my lawsuit, and I will pursue it to the end." 

"MY SELF-CONFIDENCE AND PSYCHOLOGY ARE GONE"

Stating that she has faced many financial and emotional difficulties since the cosmetic process, Mert said, "The elasticity of my face is gone. My face ended up like this in 4 months, and I have edema under my eyes. My self-confidence and my mental health are gone. I cannot even make my payments during this process. I have fallen into serious trouble, I don't want anyone else to. People's grievances are not being addressed, and they do not provide the service worth the money they take," she said.

Emphasizing that she will fight through legal channels to have her grievances addressed and that people who want to have procedures like this should do thorough research beforehand, Ada Mert said, "Do your research well, definitely do not make large payments, read the papers they make you sign; they deny and object, they don't accept responsibility. You are the one who suffers the damage and the victimization. I am calling out to our Ministry of Health. Please inspect them, don't let them deceive people, don't let them play with their health," she stated. 

The doctor who performed the operation said that he did not want to speak and that the necessary statement regarding the matter would be made by his lawyer.
