Criminal complaint from the Ministry of National Defense: Retired soldiers who shared the identities of martyrs are banned from military social facilities

On November 11, a C-130 military transport aircraft belonging to the Turkish Armed Forces crashed during a mission flight along the Azerbaijan-Georgia border line. Following the incident, a comprehensive search and rescue operation was launched in the region. During the process, when reaching the wreckage site was difficult, the information that the 20 soldiers on board had been martyred was later officially announced to the public by the Ministry of National Defense.

While search and rescue activities were ongoing and before official notifications had been made to the families, the identities of the martyrs had been shared by some social media accounts.

Following these developments, a statement regarding the matter was published by the Ministry of National Defense.

The following statements were used in the Ministry's announcement:

"We had previously announced that we filed a criminal complaint against those who published the identities of our 20 heroic comrades-in-arms, who were martyred as a result of the crash of our C-130 military cargo plane on the Azerbaijan-Georgia border on November 11, 2025, on their social media accounts before the official statement of the Ministry of National Defense.

It has been determined that among the social media opportunists who did not care about the pain of our martyrs' families while search and rescue efforts were continuing and who entered a race to be the first to share the martyrs' information, there were also retired military personnel. In addition to filing a criminal complaint against these individuals, their entry into military social facilities (orduevi) has also been banned."
