Criminal organization led by Batuhan Tok, nicknamed 'Lizard', dismantled

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that an organized crime group was dismantled during the Mahzen-48 operation in İzmir, and 9 suspects who were members of the organization were apprehended.

Criminal organization led by Batuhan Tok, nicknamed 'Lizard', dismantled

In a statement on his social media account, Yerlikaya stated that an organized crime group led by Batuhan Tok, nicknamed "Lizard", who is currently in prison, was dismantled during the Mahzen-48 operation held in İzmir.

Providing information that 9 suspects who were members of the organized crime group were apprehended in the operation, Yerlikaya noted the following:

"We are determined to cleanse our country of organized crime groups and gangs. No matter how large they are, we will dismantle organized crime groups and deliver them to justice. As a result of the work carried out by the İzmir Provincial Police Department's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch under the coordination of the Ödemiş Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and the General Directorate of Security's KOM Department, it was determined that the suspects who were members of the organized crime group in the operation held in İzmir had committed the crimes of establishing an organization for the purpose of committing crimes, intentional injury, violation of Law No. 6136, and armed threats."

Yerlikaya stated that 5 unlicensed pistols, 6 unlicensed rifles, and various amounts of narcotics were seized as a result of the operation, adding, "I congratulate our Ödemiş Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, which coordinated the operation, and our heroic police officers who carried out the operation. May God protect them. Our nation's prayers are with you."
