Critical meeting concludes: First move for the convention from the Özgür Özel camp in CHP!

Republican People's Party (CHP) elected Chairman Özgür Özel held a meeting with the Central Executive Board (MYK) at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).

CHP Spokesperson Zeynel Emre, in a statement following the MYK meeting, said they evaluated the court's absolute nullity ruling and the subsequent process.

Emre stated that the will of the delegates is essential following the absolute nullity ruling and announced that they will begin collecting signatures from authorized delegates on Monday.

Emre also stated that there have been attempts to associate Özgür Özel with FETÖ following Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's remarks, "I apologize for not being able to clean out the remnants of FETÖ." Recalling that Özel has followed the Ergenekon, Balyoz, and İzmir Military Espionage cases since his first terms as a member of parliament, brought the allegations of plots in these cases to the agenda, and served in the TBMM on the night of July 15, Emre expressed that Özel has maintained a clear stance against FETÖ in the past.

Emre's statements are as follows:

“Extraordinary situations create extraordinary conditions. We are going through such days. Under these conditions, we held our MYK meeting in our Veteran Parliament under the chairmanship of our elected Chairman, Mr. Özgür Özel. We evaluated the agenda.

“WE EVALUATED THE PLOT PROCESS”

We evaluated this plot process that the Republican People's Party is in and has been dragged into. We discussed how we can get out of this, and through which paths and methods we can fend off these plots together with our people.

Of course, essentially, both before the aforementioned nullity ruling and after it was issued, there is a process that almost everyone agrees on. Why did this happen to the Republican People's Party? Why did such an event occur targeting Mr. Özgür Özel?

Because we knew that a chairman, unlike any other in the history of the Republic, held more than 110 rallies outside of the election period, met with millions of citizens, and emerged ahead of his rival by increasing his vote share despite the plots he has faced for a year and a half, with a vote rate far above the traditional vote of the Republican People's Party.

For the independence of Turkey, in line with the path drawn by our country's founder Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, because he maintained a foreign policy stance outside of imperial calculations and for the independence of our country, of course, as someone engaging in politics in such an important geography and such an important place, he was going to become a target.

We did this for our country. We know that there is a Greater Middle East Project here and there is a government serving that Greater Middle East Project.

In contrast, if you remember, for the last few years, a leader who strongly opposed the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza, the massacres committed there without regard for children or women, and the Gaza committee established to legitimize that work, and who organized a joint rally in Eyüpsultan with six parties for protest purposes, held different events, wrote letters to heads of state, and defended the rule of law, human rights, democracy, and equality for the world outside of these plans, it was of course an expected situation for him to become a target.

“AKP'S JUDICIARY ARMS ACTED JOINTLY WITH THE NULLITY ARMS”

Dear friends, let us state this clearly; we held a somewhat expanded MYK in our meeting today. That is, we evaluated the agenda in a broad manner by including six of our friends who were in the previous term's MYK and served in the Presidential Candidate Office.

And there is this result: In the face of these works we mentioned, our party's coming in first in the last local elections, fighting with courage, and refusing to become a 'cute' opposition of the Palace, the AKP's judiciary arms, unfortunately together with the nullity arms within our party, acted jointly and set up such a plot.

“ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT MARCHES IN THE HISTORY OF THE REPUBLIC”

As you know, we celebrated the holiday yesterday with hundreds of thousands of our citizens in Ankara, in front of our Ankara Provincial Headquarters. Later, we walked to Anıtkabir, perhaps making one of the most important marches in the history of the Republic. We went to our Ancestor, and we experienced a process where the march continued even when that area was already packed, with such a long cortege.

Undoubtedly, all of these have been images that brought relief to the hearts of both us and our citizens who fell into despair for a moment after this decision.

“TURKEY WILL NOT BECOME A ONE-MAN STATE”

The Republic of Turkey will never, ever fall under the monopoly of one man, one group, one person, or one party. The Republic of Turkey will not become a one-man state where sovereignty is taken from the people unconditionally, legitimacy is taken from the people, and plots are made against political parties by using various tricks, using the judiciary, and using different instruments.

We trust ourselves, we trust our citizens. When we ask 'what is legitimacy?' for us, it is the vote you receive from the people, both in political parties and in terms of governments, and its equivalent.

If a party does not find enough support from the people and sets up immoral plots against its rival, it has also lost its legitimacy. In terms of parties, no administration that does not rely on the will of the delegates and does not rely on the will of the party members has legitimacy.

KILIÇDAROĞLU'S FETÖ IMPLICATIONS

Now, dear friends, I would like to underline one more issue. After the sentence "I apologize for not being able to clean out the remnants of FETÖ" made by our previous chairman yesterday regarding our Chairman, we see that attacks are being carried out in a very organized manner on social media and various platforms, which was clearly planned in advance.

That is, we see a mindset trying to associate our Chairman Mr. Özgür Özel with FETÖ, trying to create a perception as if he had a connection. This is truly a sad situation here. Sir, there is a statement by a FETÖ confessor from 10 years ago, and based on that statement, a perception is being tried to be created as if the expressions there were also true.

“ÖZGÜR ÖZEL FOLLOWED THE PLOT CASES”

First, let's underline this; when Mr. Özgür Özel was first a member of parliament, before the Republican People's Party institutionally followed the Ergenekon cases, he went and watched those plot cases, voiced the plots there, and there is no soldier left whom he did not visit, who was victimized or imprisoned, in Ergenekon, Balyoz, or the İzmir Military Espionage case, in Mamak, Hasdal, Hadımköy, or Silivri.

And he wrote a book on this subject. While no one knew about the İzmir military espionage case, he uncovered the plots there.

“HE DID NOT LEAVE THE PARLIAMENT ON THE NIGHT OF JULY 15”

Most importantly, because our then-Chairman Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu was on the plane, he took the initiative on the night of July 15, came to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, contributed to the opening of the parliament here, did not leave the general assembly even at the moment the parliament was bombed, declared on behalf of the Republican People's Party that he stood by legitimacy, and did not hesitate for a moment to take this initiative with great courage, and because of his stance that day, he received great appreciation and praise from every segment, every political party, and every media in this country, except for FETÖ members.

GROUP MEETING DEBATE

We do not need anything special to gather and talk. We will hold our group meeting. Wherever our Chairman speaks, the group meeting is there. That is our hall. We will enter there. We will make our speech. This is what should be. If there is an abnormality, then we will see it together.

“THERE IS SO MUCH FALSE PROPAGANDA”

As for the Uşak issue. Özkan Yalım was a deputy candidate twice while Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu was Chairman. We expelled him after some private images emerged following an investigation. There is so much false propaganda.

We are collecting signatures on Monday. We are collecting the signatures of the authorized delegates in line with the court's decision."
