Critical visit in Silivri: Özel and İmamoğlu to discuss new party

CHP's elected Chairman Özgür Özel held a meeting lasting approximately 3 hours yesterday at the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) with the dismissed members of the Central Executive Board (MYK). Speaking to reporters after the meeting, former Party Spokesperson Zeynel Emre made assessments regarding the efforts to form a new party.

"WE HAVE A ROADMAP" MESSAGE FOR THE NEW PARTY

Speaking on questions regarding preparations for a new party, Emre said, "Our priority is for the occupation of our party to end. We are working in this direction, but let no one think that we are helpless or without solutions. Of course, we have a roadmap."

Stating that they are pursuing legal processes to the fullest extent, Emre added, "If the occupation does not end after this conspiracy, we will of course come before you with new solutions," he stated.

COUNTDOWN FOR THE EXPECTED DECISION

Stating that the Court of Cassation (Yargıtay) must reach a decision as soon as possible, Emre reminded that the number of Party Assembly members has fallen below 40 and that delegates have signed for an extraordinary convention.

Emre said, "We are approaching the end of the waiting period for these matters. We will then make a decision and announce it to you."

Not giving a clear date for the establishment calendar of the new party, Emre stated, "These are not very long timeframes. We will manage the timing in the most accurate way. They will not be long timeframes. We are not without solutions or helpless. We will certainly find a way."

Emre also stated that no assessment has been made yet regarding the name of the new party.

ÖZEL'S PROVINCIAL PROGRAM CONTINUES

Zeynel Emre stated that CHP's elected Chairman Özgür Özel will continue his provincial visits, noting that he will have programs in Sivas today, Kastamonu tomorrow, and Zonguldak on Saturday.

NEW PARTY CLAIM IN MEETING WITH İMAMOĞLU

Özgür Özel is expected to meet with Ekrem İmamoğlu and other detained figures at Silivri Prison in Istanbul on Sunday, July 5.

According to a report by Türkiye Gazetesi, preparations for a new party will be among the agenda items for the meeting between Özel and İmamoğlu. The report stated that the two figures will evaluate the roadmap and the name of the party planned to be established, and that Özel will also follow the defense that Ekrem İmamoğlu will present at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) case to be heard next week.
