The Federation Council, the upper house of the Russian Parliament, has decided that the presidential election will be held on March 17, 2024.

The Federation Council met to determine the date for the presidential election.

As a result of the meeting, the senators who are members of the council unanimously decided that the election would be held on March 17, 2024.

According to the Constitution of the Russian Federation, the authority to determine the date of the presidential election in the country lies with the Federation Council, the upper house of the Russian Parliament.

The previous presidential election in Russia was held on March 18, 2018, and Vladimir Putin was elected president with 76.69 percent of the vote.
