Date set for the lottery draw for 100 thousand social housing units

The wait for applicants in Istanbul is coming to an end as part of the "500 Thousand Social Housing Project," one of Turkey's largest social housing initiatives. Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum has announced the calendar for the lottery draw planned for Istanbul under the project.

Minister Kurum stated that the project has received great interest in all 81 provinces to date and noted that it is now Istanbul's turn. Expressing that the lottery draws will be held with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Kurum made the following statement:

"In the lottery draws we have carried out with enthusiasm across our 81 provinces, it is now the turn of our Istanbul. After the holiday, God willing, we will quickly hold the draws with the attendance of our President and determine the rightful owners of our 100 thousand social housing units."

Regarding the social housing project, not only sales but also rental housing options have entered the public agenda. Announcing that a new model specific to Istanbul is being worked on, Minister Kurum noted that steps will be taken to provide solutions to the rising rent and housing prices in the city. The rental social housing model aims to facilitate the process of finding homes for low-income citizens.

While technical preparations have been completed ahead of the lottery process, "Accepted" and "Rejected" results for citizens who applied in Istanbul have been made accessible on TOKİ's official website. It was stated that applicants who did not meet the appropriate conditions were added to the lists along with their justifications, while citizens whose applications were approved earned the right to participate in the grand draw.

The approaching lottery process is seen as the beginning of a new era in social housing in Istanbul. The implementation of both for-sale and rental social housing through the project aims to offer permanent solutions to the housing problem in the city.
