Davut Gül: Bakeries selling bread at exorbitant prices have been identified

The Governor's Office has launched an investigation into bakeries in Istanbul determined to be selling bread at prices higher than the established ceiling price.

GOVERNOR GÜL ANNOUNCED

Istanbul Governor Davut Gül announced that reports have been filed against 822 bakeries that did not comply with the bread price tariff, and that the documents have been sent to the Ministry of Trade for penalties.

"WE WILL NEVER ALLOW IT"

Governor Gül used the following expressions in his post:

"Reports have been filed regarding 822 bakeries in Istanbul that were selling bread at exorbitant prices by failing to comply with the bread price tariff, and these have been sent to our Ministry of Trade for them to be penalized.

We will never allow lawlessness to be imposed as the rule..."

HE HAD MENTIONED IT BEFORE

In a statement made during an evaluation meeting with district mayors and provincial and district directors of official institutions, Istanbul Governor Davut Gül emphasized that the sale price of bread in Istanbul is 6.50 liras and said, "In some places, bread is being sold for 9 or 10 liras. In order not to victimize our public on this issue, I invite our Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and our municipalities to conduct effective price inspections."
