Death toll from counterfeit alcohol poisoning in Istanbul rises to 17
The number of people who died from counterfeit alcohol poisoning in Istanbul has risen to 17. Nineteen suspects identified as selling counterfeit alcohol have been taken into custody.
The number of deaths from counterfeit alcohol in Istanbul continues to rise. It has been determined that a total of 46 people have sought medical attention at hospitals in the districts of Şişli, Beyoğlu, Fatih, Kağıthane, Esenyurt, Ümraniye, Üsküdar, and Bakırköy. With the latest deaths, the death toll has reached 17. The treatment of 22 people is ongoing.

It was learned that 7 people have been discharged following their treatment.

An operation was carried out against suspects identified as selling counterfeit alcohol. A total of 19 suspects were taken into custody during the operation. Of the suspects whose procedures were completed at the police station, 8 were arrested at the courthouse where they were referred and sent to prison.
