Japan's western Ishikawa Prefecture and the coast of the Noto Peninsula have seen the death toll from the earthquakes rise to 161.

According to NHK, officials in Ishikawa Prefecture issued a statement regarding the earthquakes that occurred in the first week of January. They reported that the number of people who lost their lives in the earthquakes has reached 161, and that 103 people are still missing.

Authorities have issued warnings regarding damaged buildings due to heavy snowfall continuing in the regions affected by the earthquakes. Furthermore, the Japan Meteorological Agency has urged people to be cautious against potential dangers such as disruptions to transportation systems and snow accumulation on power lines and trees.

The Japan Meteorological Agency had previously reported that various earthquakes ranging in magnitude from 4 to 7 occurred on the Noto Peninsula of Ishikawa and its surrounding areas between January 1 and 4.
