Death toll from pasta factory explosion in Sakarya rises to 3

25-year-old Güven Albayrak, who was injured in the explosion and was receiving treatment at the Kartal Dr. Lütfi Kırdar City Hospital Wound and Burn Treatment Center after his initial intervention, has lost his 25-day battle for life. It was learned that Albayrak's funeral will be held in Dadalı village in the Akçakoca district of Düzce.

The number of people who lost their lives in the explosion has risen to 3.

WHAT HAPPENED?

An explosion and subsequent fire occurred at a pasta factory in the Hendek district on September 15. During cooling efforts, the lifeless body of one of the workers, 27-year-old Mesut Şimay, was recovered. 30 injured people were taken to hospitals in the Hendek and Akyazı districts, as well as in Düzce and Kocaeli, by medical teams.

22-year-old Eray Kızıldağ, who was critically injured in the explosion, passed away on October 4 at the hospital where he was receiving treatment.

As part of the investigation launched by the Hendek Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 7 suspects, including factory owners and managers, were summoned for questioning; following interrogation and procedures, 6 of the suspects were detained, and 1 was released.

Of the suspects referred to the criminal judgeship of peace, factory manager V.U. was arrested, while 5 suspects, including the factory owners, were released under judicial control conditions.
