Death toll in Japan earthquake rises to 126

The number of people who lost their lives in the earthquake in Japan has risen to 126. On the 6th day of the 7.6 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Ishikawa Prefecture and was also felt in surrounding prefectures, the death toll continues to rise.

According to information received from local authorities, the number of people who lost their lives in the earthquake was announced as 126. While search efforts for the 210 missing people continue, the number of Japan Self-Defense Forces (SDF) personnel in the earthquake-affected regions has been increased to 5,400.

It was stated that approximately 31,000 people living in the earthquake zone are staying in 357 evacuation centers. It was reported that water outages continue in more than 66 thousand homes in Ishikawa Prefecture.

The Ishikawa prefectural government announced that temporary housing will be built for earthquake victims and that construction work will begin next week. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida gave instructions to continue rescue efforts with determination.

The Japan Meteorological Agency had announced the 7.6 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Ishikawa Prefecture on January 1. A tsunami warning was issued after the earthquake, and tsunami waves reaching up to 1.2 meters in height were observed in some regions. The earthquake caused serious material damage in many areas.
