Debate over 'lands sold by CHP municipalities' at the Turkish Parliament Planning and Budget Committee

The Turkish Parliament Planning and Budget Committee, chaired by AKP MP Mehmet Muş, convened to discuss the budget of the Ministry of Health, as well as the budget, final accounts, and Court of Accounts reports for the General Directorate of Border and Coastal Health, the Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency, and the Health Institutes of Turkey.

The committee continued with speeches from MPs following the presentation by Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu. 

Taking the floor during the Ministry of Health Planning and Budget discussions, AKP Antalya MP Tuba Vural Çokal claimed in her speech that the CHP-run Manavgat Municipality had sold municipal lands, emphasizing that no site could be found to build a hospital.

Displaying a list of the sold lands at the committee, Çokal stated, "There is no land left in Manavgat to build a hospital."

Opposition benches reacted to the matter. Opposition MPs asked Çokal, "Why wasn't it built on Treasury lands; were Treasury lands sold too?" As the debate intensified, the Chairman of the Turkish Parliament Planning and Budget Committee, Mehmet Muş, called a 20-minute recess.
