In the ongoing investigation by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the incidents that occurred during the unauthorized demonstration in Saraçhane on May 1 Labor and Solidarity Day, a review of detention status was conducted in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code.

The Istanbul Duty Criminal Court of Peace decided to release 6 of the 21 suspects currently in custody under judicial control, while ruling for the continued detention of the remaining 15.

LAWSUITS HAD BEEN FILED AGAINST SOME DEFENDANTS

Separate investigations had been initiated in groups regarding the suspects detained in connection with the events that took place on May 1.

At the conclusion of the investigation conducted by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a lawsuit was filed on May 29 against 30 suspects, seeking prison sentences ranging from 3 years and 9 months to 17 years each for the charges of 'resisting to prevent the performance of duty', 'violation of the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations', 'intentional injury', and 'damaging public property'.

One of the investigations was completed on June 5, with prison sentences ranging from 3 years and 8 months to 15 years and 6 months requested for 12 suspects for the charges of 'resisting to prevent the performance of duty', 'violation of the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations', 'intentional injury', and 'damaging public property'.

Some other investigations conducted by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the same events are still ongoing.
