DEM Party Istanbul MP, Deputy Speaker of the TBMM, and member of the Imralı Delegation Sırrı Süreyya Önder suffered a heart condition at his home in Beşiktaş, Istanbul, on the night of Tuesday, April 15. Önder, who was hospitalized following a heart attack, was taken to intensive care after a grueling 12-hour surgery. Doctors reported that Önder, whose treatment continues with the aid of a machine, remains in critical condition.

STATEMENT FROM THE DEM PARTY ON HIS HEALTH CONDITION

The DEM Party, which issued a statement to the public regarding Sırrı Süreyya Önder's health, announced that his treatment process is still ongoing in intensive care. The statement emphasized that Önder's health condition is the party's primary priority.

In recent days, claims had surfaced on social media suggesting that Önder had been removed from the Imralı Delegation due to his health problems. The DEM Party emphasized that these claims do not reflect the truth, stating that such speculations do not contain accurate information and are intended solely to mislead the public.

WHO WILL HOLD THE MEETING WITH THE MINISTER OF JUSTICE?

The DEM Party statement also addressed the previously planned meeting with Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç. It was reported that due to Önder's health condition and Pervin Buldan's hospital commitments, the meeting will be conducted by the DEM Party Group Deputy Chairs.

First of all, the information that a new name will replace Sırrı Süreyya Önder in the DEM Party Imralı Delegation is not true. Our party has not put this issue on its agenda or discussed it; our party's first priority is for our colleague Sırrı Süreyya Önder to regain his health. Furthermore, the meeting with the Minister of Justice will be held by our Group Deputy Chairs due to Sırrı Süreyya Önder's health problem and Pervin Buldan's hospital commitments.
