DEM Party's Bakırhan reacts to YSK's Kars and Hilvan decision

DEM Party Co-Chair Bakırhan stated the following in a post on his social media account:

"The YSK's decision on Kars and Hilvan is a blow to democracy! As of today, there is an opportunity to say no to the many injustices before the YSK.

Normalizing those who burn ballots and usurp the will of the people is a great betrayal of this country's democratic future.

We call on the YSK not to be an instrument of this coup against democracy any longer!"

Bakırhan used the following expressions in his post:

"In Hilvan, the elections, which the people won by a large margin, were openly rigged. While an investigation should have been launched against those who burned ballots because they could not use them as fake votes, the election was canceled based on their applications, and the will of the people was usurped.

A political conspiracy was clearly set up against the democratic process in Hilvan, and the YSK approved this conspiracy. As the DEM Party, we will defend justice and democracy against injustice and lawlessness in the upcoming repeat election! Let no one have any doubt that in the renewed election, the people of Hilvan will condemn this coup against democracy and give a strong response to this injustice.

The YSK has paved the way for the usurpation of the will of the people through illicit votes cast by those who do not know Kars and have no connection to the city or its people. It has failed to fulfill its historical responsibility to protect democracy and the law. Those who usurp the will of the people of Kars are not legitimate. We will never forget those who staged a coup against the popular will on March 31 with illegal voters.

As of today, there is an opportunity to say no to the many injustices before the YSK. Normalizing those who burn ballots and usurp the will of the people is a great betrayal of this country's democratic future. We call on the YSK not to be an instrument of this coup against democracy any longer!"
