DEM Party's insistence on Öcalan continues! 'Not a leaf is stirring'

DEM Party Spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan has once again called for the parliamentary commission in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) to meet with Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the terrorist organization PKK. Stating that the commission has not taken any steps, Doğan addressed Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş, saying, "Not a leaf is stirring."

DEM Party's insistence on Öcalan continues! 'Not a leaf is stirring'

The commission established in the TBMM as part of the new resolution process held its 14th meeting yesterday. The DEM Party front, which is conducting the process with the People's Alliance formed by the AKP and MHP, has recently been calling for the commission to meet with terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan.

While Bahçeli also supports this call, a new statement has come from the DEM Party.

DEM Party Spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan reiterated the call regarding Öcalan during a press conference held on the agenda.

Reminding of the statement made by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan regarding the process, "Every positive step will lead to the next," Doğan used the expressions, "MHP leader Mr. Bahçeli had said, 'first let the guns fall silent, then everything will be discussed'."

"NOT A LEAF IS STIRRING YET"

DEM Party's Doğan said, "We also say that it is important for the guns to fall silent, but the cessation of conflict needs to be made permanent. A number of steps need to be taken. In that case, laws, the rule of law, and democracy need to be visible. The guns have fallen silent, so now 'recognition and acceptance' must be legally ensured," while adding, "However, not a leaf is stirring yet. We need to see that the isolation has been lifted."

"THE COMMISSION MUST ESTABLISH CONTACT WITH ÖCALAN IN SOME WAY"

Doğan also noted the following:

"In the latest İmralı delegation and Öcalan meeting, the commission needs to establish contact with Öcalan in some way. Bahçeli made a statement, important statements, we welcome them positively, but there is still no statement coming from the Parliament Speaker and the Commission Chair. Mr. Bahçeli's call should be taken into consideration."
