Demand for early elections rises after İmamoğlu's arrest
A poll conducted following the arrest of Ekrem İmamoğlu has shown that public demand for early elections is increasing. According to the latest study by Ser Araştırma, 63.5 percent of participants support holding an early election.
The detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu on March 19 and his subsequent arrest on March 23 have increased demands for early elections in the public eye.
Ser Araştırma announced the results of a survey conducted in 26 provinces between March 24 and 27. In this study, which involved interviews with 2,000 voters, 63.5 percent of participants stated that an early general election should be held in 2025.
While 33.2 percent of those surveyed opposed an early election, 3.3 percent remained undecided on the matter. The survey's confidence interval was set at 95 percent, with a margin of error of ± 1.5 percent.
In a similar survey conducted last month between February 26 and 28, the rate of those wanting an early election was recorded at 57.8 percent. These results indicate that the demand for early elections has increased by 5.7 percent within one month.
