Demonstrations and marches banned in Şanlıurfa for 5 days

The Şanlıurfa Governor's Office announced in a statement that demonstrations and marches have been banned across the city for 5 days.

The statement indicated that certain decisions were made based on Article 11/C of the Provincial Administration Law No. 5442 and Articles 17 and 19 of the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations No. 2911.

Emphasizing that the ban is "for the purpose of ensuring peace and security, personal inviolability, safety regarding property, and public well-being within the provincial borders," the statement included the following:

"With the exception of events deemed appropriate by the Governor's Office and district governorates, as well as plays, performances, and various forms of demonstrations and events within the scope of Article Ek-1 of the Police Duties and Powers Law No. 2559, and the commercial activities of private legal entities with a commercial identity, all potential open-air events, press statements, gatherings, marches, hunger strikes, sit-ins, vigils, rallies, setting up stands, erecting tents, distributing leaflets or brochures, hanging posters or banners, etc., based on Article 11/C of the Provincial Administration Law No. 5442 and Articles 17 and 19 of the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations No. 2911, as well as the entry of individuals and vehicles coming to our province to organize such actions or support them, are prohibited within the geographical borders of Şanlıurfa, including the city center and its districts, for a period of 5 days from 00:01 on 23.12.2024 to 23:59 on 27.12.2024," the statement read.
