Demonstrations and outdoor meetings banned for 2 days in Van

In a statement issued by the Van Governor's Office, it was stated that the measure is intended to prevent actions and attacks that are assessed as directly and clearly creating the conditions for limitation and prohibition stipulated in the Constitution and laws.

The statement, which noted that the aim is to ensure the safety of life and property of the public, thwart the plans of terrorist organizations, protect national security, fundamental rights and freedoms, and maintain public order, included the following:

"With the exception of events deemed appropriate by the Governor's Office and District Governorships within the borders of Van province, demonstrations and outdoor meetings to be held for a period of 2 days on October 21 and 22 are prohibited in accordance with the relevant provisions of Law No. 2911; furthermore, press statements, sit-in protests, conducting surveys, setting up tents and stands, organizing signature campaigns, and distributing leaflets, brochures, and flyers are prohibited between the specified dates pursuant to the provisions of Article 11, paragraphs (a) and (c) of the Provincial Administration Law No. 5442."
