Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Yıldız: Approximately 700 people are waiting in Gaza for evacuation to Turkey
Speaking at the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) Foreign Affairs Committee, Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Yıldız provided information on those attempting to reach Turkey from the war zone, stating, "As of yesterday, approximately 700 people were waiting for evacuation in the Gaza Strip."
The TBMM Foreign Affairs Committee convened under the chairmanship of AKP Ankara Deputy Fuat Oktay to discuss international agreements.
Committee Chairman Oktay drew attention to the events unfolding between Israel and Palestine, stating that the war crimes committed by Israel should not be ignored, and said, "Classic power centers, especially Western countries, are no longer able to solve problems with the international order they have established in the world. In order to protect their own interests, these countries are increasingly moving away from the ground of legitimacy. The United Nations, on the other hand, is dysfunctional and ineffective in all crises where the interests of Security Council members do not align."
322 TURKISH CITIZENS IN THE GAZA STRIP
Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Yıldız touched upon the aid provided to Gaza and said, "The first shipment of our in-kind aid to the Gaza Strip arrived at Egypt's El Arish Airport on October 13, and it is now continuing in stages. Our preparations to send aid by ship are also ongoing. To briefly list the items, among those that have arrived so far are 5,000 blankets, around 3,000 food parcels, 20,000 medical supply parcels, and similar materials have reached Egypt. They are being kept in cooperation with Egyptian authorities. They will be delivered to Gaza to the extent that the Rafah Border Crossing allows."
Making statements regarding the Gaza Strip, Yıldız said, "As of yesterday, approximately 695 people were waiting for evacuation; 322 of them are citizens of the Republic of Turkey, 104 are citizens of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, 214 are Palestinian relatives of Turkish citizens—there are those who are married, those with kinship ties such as cousins or nephews—and 55 of our personnel from institutions such as Anadolu Agency, TRT, and the Ministry of Health," he said.
