Deputy Minister of National Education Yelkenci makes statement on mid-term break that will affect students and parents
The Teacher Academy was inaugurated in Kastamonu, which was selected as a pilot province under the leadership of the Ministry of National Education. Speaking at the opening, Deputy Minister of National Education Ömer Faruk Yelkenci clarified reports that mid-term breaks would be abolished.
Pointing out that there is a lot of disinformation on social media, Yelkenci said, “Fake news is being created a lot. There are made-up news sites. They write there just to get clicks; there is no sensitivity to the accuracy or inaccuracy of the news, nor is there any ethics.
We also receive questions about these reports. For instance, that we are going to abolish mid-term breaks. It is something we have not discussed. We follow and monitor every issue related to education. This includes the mid-term break.
In our monitoring, teachers, students, and parents have expressed a high rate of support for the continuation of mid-term breaks,” he said.

HE SPOKE ABOUT TEACHER ACADEMIES
Stating that the purpose of Teacher Academies is to take teachers out of their usual environments and help them capture a different energy, Yelkenci said, “I made reminders about being a teacher in the Century of Turkey; you can expand on these.
I just wanted to draw the attention of our valuable teachers to certain points. The purpose of Teacher Academies is to take our teachers out of their current environment, out of their own routines. For example, you feel a different energy in such a historical place. Go out and explore, friends.
We had teachers in Istanbul who went from Şile to Sultanahmet. Because the energy there is something else. This historical building holds the accumulation of centuries.”
