Details of the Erdoğan-Bahçeli meeting emerge: What was discussed at the surprise summit?
Details have emerged regarding the meeting held at the Presidential Palace between AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli. It was learned that Erdoğan told his party's Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting regarding the content of the discussion, "There is a complete consensus between Devlet Bey and me."
Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli visited AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Presidential Palace on Thursday, November 14.
CLAIMS OF DISAGREEMENT
There were claims of a disagreement between the two due to the call Bahçeli made regarding the terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan. Following his party's parliamentary group meeting, Bahçeli had reacted angrily to a question from journalist Hilal Köylü, who asked, 'Do you have a disagreement with Erdoğan?', by telling her to "quit your profession."
WHAT WAS DISCUSSED AT THE SURPRISE SUMMIT?
What Erdoğan and Bahçeli discussed during the surprise meeting has emerged.
According to a report by the Türkiye newspaper, known for its proximity to the government, Erdoğan made assessments regarding the agenda during the AKP MYK meeting. The main agenda item of the meeting was his latest one-hour discussion with MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli. In his remarks regarding the content of the meeting with the MHP leader, Erdoğan emphasized a "terror-free Turkey" during the MYK meeting. Erdoğan stated that as two leaders, they are in agreement on a "terror-free Turkey" and that there is no disagreement between them.
"THERE IS A COMPLETE CONSENSUS BETWEEN DEVLET BEY AND ME"
Stating that they also discussed the issue of a "terror-free Turkey" with Bahçeli, Erdoğan said, "We had a good meeting with Devlet Bey that lasted over an hour. There is a complete consensus between Devlet Bey and me. There is no difference in our views. We discussed the temporary appointments made in municipalities and the issue of a terror-free Turkey."
BEWARE OF DISCORD
Noting that the issue of the "internal front" was also addressed during the meeting with Bahçeli, it was recorded that Erdoğan said, "In this process where our region and our country are under great threat, we emphasized strengthening the internal front and the entirety of Turkey. The People's Alliance must be protected and continue on its path. We must not give an opportunity to those who want to break up the alliance and sow discord. We have continued on our path until now by repelling attacks, and we will continue to do so from now on. You, too, must be sensitive regarding the People's Alliance."
