Details of the testimony of Nevzat Bahtiyar, who confessed in the Narin Güran murder case, have emerged

The brutal murder of Narin Güran in Diyarbakır has become the top agenda item in Turkey.

As part of the investigation, 24 people, including family members, were taken into custody, while Narin's uncle, Salim Güran, and the confessor, Nevzat Bahtiyar, were arrested.

Twenty-two suspects, including Narin's mother Yüksel and father Arif Güran, as well as her older brothers, uncle, aunt, and uncle's wife, who were cross-examined while in custody, are set to be referred to the courthouse today. 

Details have emerged from the testimony of Nevzat Bahtiyar, who was arrested after confessing that he buried the little girl's body in the stream under the instructions of Narin's uncle, Salim Güran. 

According to a report by Halit Turan from Sabah, Nevzat Bahtiyar stated the following in his testimony:

"While I was watering the trees in front of my house, Salim Güran called out to me from the garden of the house belonging to Narin's father, Arif Güran. I followed him in my vehicle; he stopped about 50 meters from my house. Showing me the blanket on the front passenger seat of his vehicle, he said, 'I killed Arif's daughter.' Pointing with his right index finger to the area where the Eğertutmaz stream is located, he threatened me by saying, 'You will take this body and dispose of it, or I will kill you and your family.'

Fearing that he would harm me and my family, I was forced to accept his proposal. He also told me that he would give me 200 thousand liras after the corn harvest was completed.

ALLEGATION OF "ILLICIT AFFAIR"

In the excitement of the moment, I did not ask why or how he killed Narin, and I do not know. However, it was rumored in Tavşantepe neighborhood that Salim Güran had affairs with Narin's mother, Yüksel Güran, and M.G., the wife of his own uncle. I think he might have wanted to kill Narin because she may have seen him having a sexual relationship with one of these two women, and if she were to tell this, he would be ostracized by society, lose his reputation, and cause problems within the Güran family. However, I did not see with my own eyes that Salim Güran had an affair with these two women.

"NARİN MAY HAVE SEEN SOMETHING IN THE BARN"

Since there was going to be a wedding for the son of Erhan Güran, the brother of Narin's father Arif Güran, the vast majority of the male members of the Güran family in Tavşantepe neighborhood had gone out of the neighborhood to distribute wedding invitations. I think Salim Güran might have stayed in the neighborhood to have such a sexual encounter. The place where Salim Güran first called out to me on the day of the incident was next to the place used as a barn by Arif Güran. Therefore, I think such a sexual encounter might have taken place in this barn area I mentioned. I also think that Narin, who was returning from a Quran course, might have seen something in this section used as a barn, which would have been directly in her path if she had used the trail to go home. Furthermore, the fact that her body was brought to me by Salim Güran along with her slippers shows that she was killed outside of her home."
