Devlet Bahçeli comments on DEM Party members' Imralı visit: 'A promising start'

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, regarding the applications by DEM Party members to meet with PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan in Imralı, stated, "There is benefit in this meeting taking place. We are entering 2025; it would be a promising start."

Deliberations on the 2025 Central Government Budget Law Proposal continue in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). Devlet Bahçeli is also observing the budget discussions.

During a break in the session, a journalist reminded Bahçeli of reports that a DEM Party delegation would meet with terrorist organization PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan in Imralı next week and asked for his opinion on the matter.

Bahçeli responded to the question as follows:

"There is no change in our views. There is benefit in this meeting taking place. We are entering 2025, and if you notice, my ring also says 'New century, new Turkey.' In this respect, it would be a promising start. The meetings would please us. I believe it will be a cause for good for Turkey and for our people."
