Dilan Polat's bodyguard killed in armed attack: Footage of the murder emerges

The incident occurred around 13:45 in Çeşme, Alaçatı. According to information obtained, gunshots were heard in front of the hotel where Dilan and Engin Polat were staying for their vacation.

Can Polat (37), who was Engin Polat's cousin and also served as the couple's bodyguard, was subjected to an armed attack while getting into his vehicle to leave the hotel. Seriously injured, Polat was taken to the hospital by 112 Emergency Health teams dispatched to the scene, but he could not be saved despite all interventions and lost his life.

Following the attack, teams from the İzmir Provincial Police Department took action and apprehended the suspect shortly thereafter.

The official statement made by the İzmir Governor's Office regarding the incident included the following:

"Initial investigations have determined that the individual named Can Polat was shot while he had stepped outside to prepare his vehicle to leave the accommodation facility. The injured individual was taken to the hospital by 112 Emergency Health teams dispatched to the scene; however, he lost his life at the hospital despite all interventions. The suspect of the incident, S.A., born in 2003, was apprehended and taken into custody in a short time by our Provincial Police Department teams along with the weapon considered to have been used in the crime. The investigation into the incident is being conducted in a multi-faceted and meticulous manner."

The moments the incident took place were captured by a nearby security camera. In the footage, the moments when Can Polat, who was preparing next to a black vehicle, collapsed to the ground right next to the open door of the vehicle as a result of the gunfire were reflected on camera. The footage also shows the great panic that occurred in the surrounding area immediately after the shooting.

The procedures for the detained armed attacker at the police station are ongoing.
