Dilek İmamoğlu's first reaction to Kılıçdaroğlu's video: 'I couldn't watch it, I couldn't bring myself to'

Dilek İmamoğlu, wife of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, made a highly talked-about statement regarding the video message from Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu that sparked a major crisis within the CHP. Speaking from Silivri, İmamoğlu also rebelled against the trial process, stating, "People have been in prison for four holidays; this case is without evidence."

The tension within the Republican People's Party (CHP), fueled by debates over the "absolute nullity" lawsuit and the cancellation of the party congress, has moved to the front of the Silivri courthouse. Dilek İmamoğlu, wife of CHP's presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was in Silivri to follow the İBB case in person, broke her silence regarding the statements by former Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu that shook the organization.

"I COULDN'T WATCH KILIÇDAROĞLU'S VIDEO"

Speaking exclusively to T24, Dilek İmamoğlu made a striking confession regarding the footage targeting Kılıçdaroğlu's remark that "the CHP knows how to cleanse itself when necessary." Not hiding her sadness over these moves within the party, İmamoğlu said, "I couldn't watch Kılıçdaroğlu's video; I couldn't bring myself to."

A CRY FOR JUSTICE FROM SILIVRI: "PEOPLE ARE INSIDE WITHOUT EVIDENCE, FAMILIES ARE BEING PUNISHED"

Criticizing the trial process and the detention conditions with harsh words, Dilek İmamoğlu expressed her resentment toward the justice system ahead of the Eid al-Adha holiday to be celebrated next week. Emphasizing that the current situation has turned into a method of punishment, İmamoğlu stated the following:

"These people have been held in prison for four holidays, and they will spend another holiday away from their loved ones next week. I wish patience and strength to those unjustly imprisoned, their families, and myself. This case is a case without evidence from start to finish. People are retracting the statements they gave under pressure one by one in court. It is not just the detainees who are being punished here; their families are also being clearly punished."

"THE 'CLEANSING' FIGHT IN THE CHP GROWS: BUTLAN STATEMENT FROM ÖZGÜR ÖZEL"

The process that divided the party with congress debates began with a meaningful video shared by Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu on his social media account. Kılıçdaroğlu's words, "The shadow of this great plane tree can never be a shelter for the illicit and the corrupted. It knows how to cleanse itself when necessary and how to conduct its internal accounting," had caused an earthquake effect at the headquarters.

Making a counter-move to this video, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel stated that he was trying to maintain his respect for the former leader, while delivering harsh messages between the lines and asking Kılıçdaroğlu to take a clear stance against those calling for the cancellation of the congress, saying: "I have no right to criticize them. Kemal Bey's legal rights are entrusted to me. But the party's legal rights are also entrusted to me. I would have expected him to say, 'What nullity!'"
