Disability pension paid to ISIS member brought to the Turkish Parliament

The report by Birgün columnist Timur Soykan regarding the fact that ISIS member Mohammed Khlaf Ibrahim, who was captured following intelligence that he was planning attacks on numerous locations, received a disability pension from the Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay) has been brought to the parliamentary agenda. 

DEM Party MP Cengiz Çiçek submitted a parliamentary question for Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya to answer. It was stated that Mohammed Khlaf Ibrahim, nicknamed 'Abu Laith,' who is known to have joined ISIS in 2014, was injured as a result of a landmine explosion while fighting in the ranks of ISIS. The following questions were directed to Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya regarding the ISIS member, who entered Turkey illegally in 2018 and lived in Van for a time, receiving a disability pension from the Turkish Red Crescent: 

• Under what conditions and criteria did the Turkish Red Crescent provide a pension to ISIS attacker Mohammed Khlaf Ibrahim?

• During which time intervals was the pension paid to Mohammed Khlaf Ibrahim?

• How many people residing in Turkey who are known to have previously operated within ISIS have been granted citizenship?

• How many people residing in Turkey are known to have previously operated within ISIS? In which cities do these individuals reside? Will the necessary procedures be initiated to remove these individuals, known to have operated within ISIS, from Turkey?

• Are individuals entering through border gates or official channels checked for Interpol records? Is the entry of these individuals into Turkey being investigated?
