Disaster averted: Sidewalk collapses, mother and child fall into pit

A collapse occurred on the sidewalk in front of a 6-story building located on Yücel Street in Güven Neighborhood, creating a pit approximately 2 meters deep. At that moment, a woman walking on the sidewalk with her child in a stroller and another person fell into the resulting pit.

TEAMS INTERVENED

While these individuals were pulled out of the pit with the help of bystanders, municipal police, police, medical, and fire department teams were dispatched to the scene. Following inspections by municipal teams, it was decided to evacuate the building as a precaution. The building was subsequently cleared.

It was also decided that core samples would be taken from the building.

"THE BUILDING HAD ENTERED URBAN TRANSFORMATION"

İsmail Cindoğlu, one of the building's residents, stated the following regarding the incident:

"I live on the first floor; there was a very loud noise. The building had already entered urban transformation. There is no problem for now, but there is a collapse on the sidewalk in front of the building. When the collapse occurred, we rescued the mother and her daughter; there was also an elderly man, he was fine. If it had happened half an hour earlier, I would have been passing through here with my daughter."
