It was alleged that at Karabük University, where approximately 12 thousand foreign students from 101 different countries are educated, the number of African students exceeds the number of Turkish students, and that these students have transmitted HPV and HIV to others.

The claim that African students, who make up 5,257 of the foreign students at Karabük University, have transmitted HPV and HIV to other students has become a hot topic on social media. It was observed that individuals close to the government, in particular, targeted the students. One of these individuals, Kızılay Board Member Arif Koç, used disgusting expressions against female students studying at Karabük University.

Koç wrote the following:

“If you girls studying in Karabük who caught HIV are reading this post, may you get worse, may you not be able to look your family in the face, you adulterous dishonorable people.”

This is not Koç's only disgusting tweet. Koç had previously used ugly expressions towards Fenerbahçe fans. Under a tweet posted by a fan before the Trabzonspor-Fenerbahçe match, he wrote: “The round-trip ticket is on me. Go to Trabzon and do the same thing if you are brave. Won't they shove you in the opposite direction of where you came out of your mother, just try it and see.”

After his disgusting tweets were revealed, Arif Koç first set his Twitter account to private mode, and then closed his account.
