Diyanet finally remembers its founder in April 23 post

Diyanet, which for years has ignored its founder, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and omitted his name from its sermons and messages, has this time remembered Atatürk. 

In the message published by the Presidency of Religious Affairs for the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day, the following statements were included: “We commemorate with mercy and gratitude all the heroes of the National Struggle, especially the first speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and we celebrate the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day of all our children.”

For years, Diyanet did not mention the name of the great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk during national and religious holidays. Diyanet put an end to this practice, which had drawn criticism, in its message published for April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day. 

In the holiday message shared on Diyanet's official social media account, the following expressions were used: “On the 104th anniversary of the establishment of our Grand National Assembly of Turkey, we commemorate with mercy and gratitude all the heroes of the National Struggle, especially the first speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and we celebrate the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day of all our children.”
