DMM's statement on bridges and highways draws backlash

The Center for Combating Disinformation, established by the AKP government, denied reports regarding the privatization of Bosphorus bridges and highways in a statement issued days later. However, the content of the statement sparked debate among the public.

The center's statement included the phrase, "Ownership will remain with the state; only the operating rights may be transferred to the private sector." This statement was interpreted on social media as "mocking the intelligence of the public."

Economist İnan Mutlu reacted to the statement, saying, "The Center for Combating Disinformation has spoiled the game again. They said they would not sell the bridges and highways, but rather the operating rights."

Numerous reactions also poured in on social media regarding the statement from the Center for Combating Disinformation, which is affiliated with the Directorate of Communications.
