Do the consecutive earthquakes in the Sea of Marmara trigger a potential Istanbul earthquake? Important statement from Naci Görür
Three earthquakes that occurred in the Sea of Marmara in the last 24 hours have brought the potential Istanbul earthquake back to the agenda. Pointing out that the earthquakes were smaller than magnitude 4, Prof. Dr. Naci Görür stated, "There is an active fault there. These earthquakes show that it is alive."
The earthquakes with magnitudes of 3.2, 3.4, and 3.6 that occurred in the Sea of Marmara in the last 24 hours have caused concern.
While these consecutive earthquakes have brought the potential major Istanbul earthquake back to the agenda, all eyes have turned to expert names.
STATEMENT FROM NACİ GÖRÜR
Evaluating the earthquakes in question, Geoscientist Prof. Dr. Naci Görür noted that the earthquakes are natural movements of the faults. Stating, "I do not take the earthquakes in the Gulf of Marmara seriously at all because they are smaller than 4," Görür reiterated his warning that an earthquake is already expected in the Marmara region.
"DO NOT TAKE THEM SERIOUSLY, BUT WE ARE ALREADY EXPECTING AN EARTHQUAKE"
Speaking to TGRT Haber, Görür stated the following:
"I do not take the earthquakes in the Gulf of Marmara seriously at all because they are smaller than 4. These are earthquakes that can happen anywhere and at any time. Since what we call a fault is not dead, it is breathing. If I were sleeping and not moving at all, you would still hear my heart. Would you be afraid of me? Therefore, do not take these earthquakes seriously in any way. But we are already expecting an earthquake in the Marmara region. There is an active fault there. These earthquakes show that it is alive."
