Doctor Erdal Bektaş, a fugitive for 48 days, found dead
Dr. Erdal Bektaş, who had been sought for 48 days after escaping from the Erzurum Courthouse and was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment, has been found dead. Bektaş was laid to rest following a funeral prayer held in Bursa.

Dr. Erdal Bektaş, who escaped from the Erzurum Courthouse on July 8 and had been sought for 48 days, has been found dead.
Bektaş, who received an aggravated life sentence in the case regarding the 2006 murder of civil engineer Gökhan Atakan, had fled the courthouse after the verdict hearing by exploiting a security vulnerability in the SEGBİS room.
An arrest warrant had been issued for Bektaş, and he had been sought for days. The doctor was laid to rest yesterday following a funeral prayer in Bursa.
