Doctor who had hospital shot at allegedly tried to procure a bomb to use

Plastic surgeon Mirza Yıldırım first wanted to buy the Güneş Hospital in Küçükçekmece; then he rented it. However, it is alleged that he did not provide the required licenses or equipment guarantees, and that he wanted to seize this hospital just as he had done with the clinic he owned. He first raided it, then had it shot at. While he was trying to have it bombed, the incident was brought to the judiciary.

According to the case file opened at the Küçükçekmece 1st High Criminal Court, the Private Güneş Hospital, founded by the Güneşlioğlu family in 1995 and which began operations after receiving a license from the Ministry of Health in 1997, was attempted to be seized using armed gangs.

The person who wanted to seize the hospital is alleged to be the plastic surgeon who rented it, Mirza Yıldırım.

The process regarding the operation of the hospital, founded by Seyhmus Güneşlioğlu, began with a rental agreement made in 2000. Due to the legislation of the time, which did not allow hospital operating licenses to be rented out alone, the path of transferring the license along with the company it was registered to was chosen. In this context, a return guarantee was obtained at the end of the rental period, the contract and commitments were secured, and an annotation was placed on the title deed.

The rental period, initially set for 15 years, was extended with additional protocols, and the hospital was operated by three brothers, who are doctors, for a total of 23 years. The rental period ended in 2023.

OFFERED 27 MILLION DOLLARS

Following the expiration of the contract, it was decided that the hospital would be operated by the Güneşlioğlu family. During this process, an offer was made by Yavuz K., the owner of Star Imaging Center, to purchase the hospital, but the parties could not reach an agreement on the price.

Shortly after, contact was established with Dr. Mirza Yıldırım through Yavuz K. Dr. Yıldırım stated that he had purchased a hospital with foreign partners in İzmir, operated a polyclinic in Istanbul, and wanted to buy a new hospital. During the meetings, while 35 million dollars were requested for the hospital, Dr. Yıldırım offered 27 million dollars, and the sale did not take place.

WHEN THE SALE DID NOT HAPPEN, HE REQUESTED A RENTAL

Upon the failure of the sale, Dr. Mirza Yıldırım this time requested to rent the hospital. As a result of the meetings, an agreement was reached to rent the hospital for 10 years. According to the contract;

- A 2 million dollar guarantee or bank letter of guarantee for medical devices,

- A 10 million dollar security deposit for the license transfer,

- The return of the guarantees if the hospital is returned in good condition at the end of the rental period

were set as conditions.

The parties signed the contract in the presence of lawyers. However, during the process, Dr. Yıldırım requested that a portion of the guarantee be postponed, citing renovations he stated he would perform. This request was accepted. Despite this, the 10 million dollar security deposit stipulated for the license transfer was never paid.

Dr. Yıldırım began to effectively operate the hospital during this process and changed the name of the hospital to “Mi Klinik”. Because the license transfer did not take place, all operations in the hospital were carried out under the existing license.

It was reported that the total amount paid was limited to 185 thousand dollars in guarantees and 505 thousand 300 dollars for construction expenses.

SUSPICIONS AND TERMINATION OF THE CONTRACT

In the investigations conducted after the guarantees were not provided, it was determined that Dr. Mirza Yıldırım did not have signatory authority in the company's trade registry records. It was stated that this situation raised suspicions of “forgery of documents” regarding the signature placed on the contract.

Following this, attempts were made to terminate the contract through a notary, and Dr. Yıldırım was asked to vacate the hospital. However, it was alleged that he did not leave the hospital, and that threatening phone calls and messages were received during this process.

THREATS, RAID, AND ARMED ATTACK

According to the allegations, Dr. Mirza Yıldırım and the people with him raided the hospital. During the raid, patients were frightened, and health services were disrupted. It was reported that the suspects fled when police teams arrived at the scene, and some individuals were apprehended.

A few days later, in the morning hours, it was noted that two people on a motorcycle came in front of the hospital and opened fire, the windows were broken, and the bullets hit the lobby.

CORRESPONDENCE IN THE SUMMARY OF PROCEEDINGS AND BOMB ALLEGATION

It was stated that WhatsApp messages containing threats from Dr. Mirza Yıldırım were found in the police summary of proceedings included in the case file. It was alleged that the correspondence contained expressions regarding the procurement of weapons and hand grenades, and that the address of a clinic in Bostancı, Istanbul, was shared as the delivery address for the weapons.

Within the scope of the events that took place, a lawsuit was filed against Mirza Yıldırım and many others on charges of “armed threat,” “damage to property,” “attempted qualified robbery,” and “organized crime.” It was reported that some suspects, who are alleged to have carried out the armed attack on the hospital, are in custody.

On the other hand, a separate lawsuit filed by Dr. Mirza Yıldırım against the Güneşlioğlu family on charges of “fraud” continues to be heard at the Küçükçekmece 3rd High Criminal Court.
